28 มกราคม 2569
We are pleased to share that an MoU signing ceremony was recently held between the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), SAKURA Internet, and Sojitz (Thailand).
SAKURA Internet is one of Sojitz Group’s affiliated companies, and this collaboration represents an important step as they expand their business into Thailand with support from both Thai and Japanese government entities.
For us, Sojitz (Thailand), this marks a significant step as we establish our presence and entry into the fast-growing digital field in Thailand, in line with global trends in digital transformation and advanced technology.
depa has partnered with SAKURA Internet and Sojitz (Thailand) to advance Thailand-Japan collaboration, aiming to shape the future of the digital economy.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President/CEO of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mr. Kunihiro Tanaka, Founder and CEO/President of SAKURA Internet, and Mr. Toyohiko Satsuka, President of Sojitz (Thailand). This MOU aims to enhance Thailand-Japan collaboration in the digital economy, focusing on advancing digital infrastructure development, and fostering growth in the technology industry.
The signing of this MOU aims to advance Thailand’s digital industry through three areas of strategic cooperation, namely: Co-Human Resource Development, which encompasses AI, cloud computing, e-commerce management, the gaming industry, and digital content creation; Development of AI cloud infrastructure; and Establishment of an AI Engineering Delivery Center. These collaborative efforts are intended to enhance the capabilities of Thai personnel and entrepreneurs to compete effectively in the modern digital economy.
These three organizations have driven the establishment of the Japan-Thailand Digital Incubator Center to promote Thai startups in Japan and globally by facilitating investor connections, implementing incubation programs, and providing a digital infrastructure environment that supports the growth of technology entrepreneurs.
Another key collaboration is the development of the Thailand Digital Valley within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), aimed at establishing a comprehensive innovation ecosystem. For instance, it includes 5G, IoT, Smart City projects, and AI engineering testing areas, as well as the promotion of digital transformation within the industrial sector, which is a crucial mechanism to enhance Thailand’s readiness for the digital economy of the future.
After the signing, these three organizations have been consulting together for long-term collaboration. This includes the development of a data science center, advanced cloud infrastructure, promoting Thai entrepreneurs’ entry into the Japanese market, and supporting digital investment from Japanese businesses in Thailand, as well as the ongoing exchange of knowledge in the field of innovation. These initiatives will serve as the key driving force for the sustainable growth of the digital economy of both countries.
