Our Business
In preparation for the global shift toward a decarbonized society, we are committed to delivering sustainable materials to clients seeking low-carbon solutions. Our initiatives include the commercialization of biochemical manufacturing processes using microbial fermentation and the development of advanced recycling technologies that transform high-quality mono-material plastic waste into high-value materials. These efforts aim to reduce reliance on petrochemicals and create new demand for innovative recycling solutions. Through these strategies, the Chemicals Division strives to ensure the long-term sustainability of its business portfolio while enhancing the overall value of the Sojitz Group.
Chemical
Sojitz operates a global plastic resin business, leveraging an extensive sales and procurement network. We offer a wide range of products and materials, along with comprehensive business solutions for upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors. Specifically, there are opportunities in the shift towards circular economies, decarbonization, and other methods to address society’s needs. We will transform our business portfolio to prioritize contributions for realizing a sustainable society.
Plastic
Development of a wide range of businesses mainly in Southeast Asia, such as fertilizer production, feed production, flour milling, bakery products, confectioneries, building materials, afforestation, wood chips, paper-making, and biomass fuel procurement. Participation in one of the largest biomass power plant projects in Japan, utilizing a stable woody biomass resource procurement network and development of a new biomass fuel source.
